GTA IV PC Patch Released
Looks like Rockstar has pulled though with the promised patch for the, sadly, buggy PC version of GTA IV. The patch is 32.6MB and can be downloaded by connecting the game to LIVE.
Among the fixes included are:
- A fix for ATI 1900 shadows.
- Improvements to the particle systems and mirrors.
- Changed made to multiplayer character settings are saved.
- A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
- Support for DirectInput controllers.
- Several improvements to the video editor like smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better FX during replays
- Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice.
- Overall savings to memory.

Well from what I've heard, this patch brings in more bugs than it fixes. Much like any other patch for a PC game, really. Makes you wonder why developers bother.

With as big of a fan base Rockstar have it wont matter, they half ass PC version and then patch? This PC version was obviously rushed yes, I'd like to see how it isn't, there is no way you could have "overlooked" the problems it's plagued with. I'll be trying the patch tonight to see if it actually puts a dint in the problems anyway...
I am still under the hopeful impression modding will still be capable eventually.

I don't see why not. If there is something stopping it I'm sure someone will find a work around.

just ndjasnduiandajomdsa wish they hurry up and make the PC verision playable, so i stop wondering why i actually brought this game

Good. Now all the whiners can shut the fuck up. I wish I had a good enough PC for this game.
